A Spanish Language Virtual School and Art
Mi Tarea Virtual is an online school that provides private and semi-private lessons to kindergarten to high school students during non-school hours, as well as morning hours to homeschooled children in the United States. Mi Tarea Virtual operates on Zoom, Skype, and other video platforms--whatever is preferred by our students.

Private Individualized Program
1:1 Spanish conversational sessions are taught by Adriana Vázquez-Ornelas, based in Monterrey, Mexico. Classes are timed to meet the schedule of Mi Tarea Virtual's students, whether during after-school hours or flexibly planned to suit the needs of homeschooled students. They are conducted by videoconference weekly for 30, 45, or 60 minutes, over 10 weeks, depending on a student’s age and Spanish level/proficiency.
For younger students—ages 5-7—30-minute weekly classes are recommended. Students 8-16 years old do best with 45-minute and 1-hour classes.
The curriculum for private classes is individualized, and established through an online interview prior to the start of the 10-week program. Students, with their parents if needed, share with Adriana their interests: books they like to read, music they like to listen to, sports they enjoy, movies they’ve seen, and so forth. They talk about their school subjects and, if they have been learning Spanish in their school, what they are working on and what feels challenging within grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
Semi-private Program
Mi Tarea Virtual's Spanish classes are conducted remotely, on the video platform a student prefers, and are invitation-only from the instructor to ensure privacy. Semi-private classes are formed with near-age students who need instruction, practice, and reinforcement of similar skill sets.
As an example, a 9 year old in Atlanta at an intermediate to advanced level of Spanish who likes Star Wars can converse with a 9 year old in Monterrey, Mexico, who is also a Star Wars fan; both can practice the preterit and imperfect tenses with phrases like: Luke era un niño bueno pero se convirtió en un joven malo. With the supervision of Adriana, each student will advance their Spanish skills (speaking, grammar) while enjoying the activity that promotes it.
